The role of the Desk Clerk is to assist patrons with all of their Library-related needs, and keep the day-to-day operations running smoothly.
Responsibilities Check in/out a variety of materials using the Library's integrated library system, Polaris Process library card applications and maintain records, as well as their confidentiality in accordance with the Michigan Library Privacy Act Effectively resolve patron complaints by communicating policies and procedures Support patrons in operating machines such as photocopiers, scanners, and computers Provide welcoming and helpful public service to Library patrons of all ages in-person, via email and/or over the phone Other duties as assigned Qualifications o Ability to demonstrate repeated good judgment and tact when interacting with both co-workers and members of the community o Basic knowledge of, or ability to learn, library-related terminology and organization o Ability to occasionally transport materials weighing up to 40 pounds o Cash-handling and appropriate computer experience o Occasional travel for training and professional development opportunities Job Details Category Library Status Open Salary $15.
